SUMMARY:Punch Needle Workshop: Discover Two Styles
DESCRIPTION:Explore the art of punch needle embroidery in this hands-on workshop! You’ll learn to create beautiful textures using two techniques: the Oxford Punch with yarns and the Ultra Punch (or Russian Punch) with DMC and Valdani threads. \nPunching mimics the look of hand-hooked and embroidered work—but it’s easier! If you can hold a pencil\, you can punch. \nThis session focuses on learning and experimentation rather than completing a set project. The class includes materials to practice both styles\, such as yarns\, threads\, monk’s cloth for the Oxford Punch\, and weaver’s cloth for the Ultra Punch. Tools\, hoops\, and scissors will be available for use during class and can be purchased separately. \nInstructor: Lisanne Miller

SUMMARY:Resonance of Passion: From Battlefield to the Sea
DESCRIPTION:Experience the powerful drama and emotional depth of “Resonance of Passion: From Battlefield to the Sea”—a compelling double bill of short plays that brings to life the extraordinary stories of two Kennebunk women navigating love\, loyalty\, and personal turmoil in the nineteenth century. \nIn the first play\, “Waves of Betrayal*\,” immerse yourself in the turbulent life of a sea captain’s wife whose forbidden affair unfolds against the backdrop of the open ocean\, challenging the boundaries of fidelity and desire. The second play\, “Echoes of the Heart\,” follows the poignant journey of a wife who faces the trials of the Civil War while struggling to keep her family united amidst the chaos. Citing primary source letters from the collection of the Brick Store Museum\, these gripping narratives explore the complexities of human emotion and the resilience of women in vastly different yet equally intense circumstances. \nYour admission includes a unique historical culinary experience featuring the timeless staple of the sea—hardtack—paired with a taste of General Ambrose Burnside’s legendary punch! Discover the rich history behind these recipes from the past as we celebrate Kennebunk’s maritime tradition and the art of Civil War mixology. Don’t miss out on this memorable evening! \n*This play includes adult content and may not be suitable for younger audiences. \n  \nPlease Note: We are aware that ticket emails are not being received by many purchasers. As we work to resolve this\, please rest assured that if you do not receive an email confirmation of your purchase\, as long as your card has been charged for the purchase\, your name is on our list and you do not need to do anything further (except come to the event!).
