DESCRIPTION:Maine Historical Society stewards one of 26 surviving copies of the Dunlap Broadside of the Declaration printed in Philadelphia on July 4\, 1776\, and sent to the Colonies to announce American independence. This year\, the Declaration will travel across Maine to all 16 counties with great pomp and circumstance. The Brick Store Museum is incredibly proud to host the Declaration of Independence for York County. \nPlease visit during the Declaration’s three-day stop in Kennebunk to find activities\, programs\, our “Results of Revolution” exhibition\, and of course\, the Declaration on view. \nDeclaration Viewing Hours: \nThursday\, July 30: 10:00am – 8:00pm \nFriday\, July 31: 10:00am – 5:00pm\, with special 18th Century Dinner offered at 6pm! \nSaturday\, August 1: 10:00am – 4:00pm \nPlan ahead!\nVisitors are encouraged to reserve a timed-entry ticket via Maine Historical Society’s page HERE>>

The event coincides with the Museum’s rare display of Maine’s copy of the Declaration of Independence\, on view July 30 through August 1. \nGuests will be welcomed with a festive sparkling reception as they gather in the Museum courtyard for an evening of exceptional food\, conversation\, and history under the summer sky. \nEnjoy an Americana-inspired buffet prepared by Chef Bill of For the Love of Food & Drink\, featuring seasonal dishes and historic touches inspired by 18th-century cooking. Along the way\, imagine what daily life was like when the sounds of hammering and sawing filled the air\, and learn how abundant forests\, local sawmills\, and access to waterways fueled the industry. \nDiscover how shipyards supported the community while connecting it to global trade\, and how this era left a lasting mark on the town\, from its economy to the beautiful homes of merchants and shipmasters that still line Summer Street today. \nThis tour is offered in partnership with Ride Maine\, whose support helps make this experience possible. \nGroup size: 8–12 participants (minimum of 8 required to run)

DESCRIPTION:This outdoor walking tour of Kennebunk’s Mothers Beach features eleven historic homes and an illustration of life at the beach in the early 20th Century. Tours depart from Trinity Chapel on Woodland Ave. \nKennebunk Beach Walking Tours dates for 2026 are as follows: July 3\, September 5\, and October 10 \nPrivate tours are also available. Please contact us at info@brickstoremuseum.org or (207)985-4802 at least two weeks in advance of your anticipated tour date to arrange a private tour. \nTime: 60 – 90 minutes \nDistance: Less than a mile on sidewalks and flat terrain. \n+ \nPlease wear comfortable walking shoes. \nWhere to go: \nThis tour begins at the Trinity Chapel on Railroad Ave along Kennebunk Beach. Please arrive about 5 minutes prior to the tour start. You can pre-purchase tickets online and let us know you’re coming! \nPARKING: Parking is available (with Kennebunk Parking sticker) at beach spaces; and alongside roads leading to the Chapel (as marked). Please pay attention to parking signage. \nIf the forecast on the day of your walk calls for rain\, please contact the Museum in advance to make sure the walk is still scheduled. DESCRIPTION:Step into the mysterious world of turn-of-the-century spiritualism at the Brick Store Museum’s annual Of Séances & Spirits: Supernatural Kennebunk. \nOn Thursday\, October 29\, the Museum’s historic buildings will come alive with stories of mediums\, séances\, ghostly encounters\, and the enduring fascination with the spirit world. Guests will enjoy an evening of immersive experiences inspired by the Spiritualist movement that captivated America in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. \nThroughout the evening\, explore the Museum’s historic campus and discover local stories connected to the supernatural. Learn about Kennebunk’s own connections to séances and spiritualism while enjoying heavy appetizers\, tarot readings\, live performances\, and historical interpretation. \nThe centerpiece of the evening is a timed Victorian-style séance experience featuring first-person historical interpreter Laura Rocklyn as famed medium Mina Crandon\, the “Witch of Lime Street.” Through this engaging and historically informed performance\, guests will encounter the dramatic story of Crandon’s rise to fame and the controversy that surrounded her séances. The experience also explores the lives of two of spiritualism’s most famous figures: Harry Houdini\, who devoted years to exposing fraudulent mediums\, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle\, creator of Sherlock Holmes and a passionate believer in communication with the dead. \nTickets include access to all activities throughout the evening\, along with a designated séance time. Guests are encouraged to arrive before or remain after their scheduled séance to enjoy the full range of experiences offered across the Museum campus. \nTickets: $60 General Admission | $50 Members \nIncludes one complimentary drink\, heavy appetizers\, a timed séance experience\, live performances\, and access to all Museum activities throughout the evening. \nPlease note: This event takes place throughout the Brick Store Museum’s historic campus and requires walking between buildings.
