SUMMARY:Shipbuilding Odyssey Tour
DESCRIPTION:Step back into Kennebunk’s shipbuilding era and explore the rivers\, stories\, and people that shaped the town’s early prosperity. Bounded by the Mousam and Kennebunk Rivers\, this small village became a thriving hub of maritime industry\, with more than 500 ships built along its shores over nearly 150 years. \nThis 90-minute guided driving tour will take you to key locations connected to Kennebunk’s shipbuilding past. Along the way\, imagine what daily life was like when the sounds of hammering and sawing filled the air\, and learn how abundant forests\, local sawmills\, and access to waterways fueled the industry. \nDiscover how shipyards supported the community while connecting it to global trade\, and how this era left a lasting mark on the town\, from its economy to the beautiful homes of merchants and shipmasters that still line Summer Street today. \nThis tour is offered in partnership with Ride Maine\, whose support helps make this experience possible. \nGroup size: 8–12 participants (minimum of 8 required to run)

SUMMARY:Of Seances and Spirits
DESCRIPTION:Step into the mysterious world of turn-of-the-century spiritualism at the Brick Store Museum’s annual Of Séances & Spirits: Supernatural Kennebunk. \nOn Thursday\, October 29\, the Museum’s historic buildings will come alive with stories of mediums\, séances\, ghostly encounters\, and the enduring fascination with the spirit world. Guests will enjoy an evening of immersive experiences inspired by the Spiritualist movement that captivated America in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. \nThroughout the evening\, explore the Museum’s historic campus and discover local stories connected to the supernatural. Learn about Kennebunk’s own connections to séances and spiritualism while enjoying heavy appetizers\, tarot readings\, live performances\, and historical interpretation. \nThe centerpiece of the evening is an intimate Victorian-style séance experience featuring first-person historical interpreter Laura Rocklyn as famed medium Mina Crandon\, the “Witch of Lime Street.” Through this engaging and historically informed performance\, guests will encounter the dramatic story of Crandon’s rise to fame and the controversy that surrounded her séances. The experience also explores the lives of two of spiritualism’s most famous figures: Harry Houdini\, who devoted years to exposing fraudulent mediums\, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle\, creator of Sherlock Holmes and a passionate believer in communication with the dead. \nTickets include access to all activities throughout the evening\, as well as a designated time slot for the séance experience. Guests are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the full range of offerings before or after their scheduled séance. \nTickets: $55 General Admission | $50 MembersIncludes one complimentary drink\, heavy appetizers\, a timed séance experience\, live performances\, and access to all Museum activities throughout the evening.
