SUMMARY:Panel Discussion: The Legacy of the '47 Fire
DESCRIPTION:The Fire of ’47 was a collection of over 200 fires that burned in the State of Maine from October 13th through October 27th in 1947. Together\, the fires consumed a quarter of a million acres of forest\, and wiped out nine entire towns\, making it one of the worst natural disasters in state history. The fires burned from Bar Harbor (which was almost completely destroyed) to Kennebunkport and Goose Rocks Beach. 1947 became known as “The Year Maine Burned.” \nThe panel discussion “The Legacy of the ’47 Fire\,” will be presented on Tuesday\, October 18 at 6pm via Zoom. \nThe panel includes representatives from the Maine Forest Service\, Kennebunk Fire-Rescue\, and local historians\, who will discuss various perspectives on the fire and its effects on today’s fire control and technology. \n+ \nThe Museum is offering an accompanying take-out dinner as part of its Take Out Learning Dinners\, catered by For the Love of Food & Drink in Wells. \nMenu Selections: \nSeasonal Garden Salad \nPot Roast OR Farmhouse Pie (Veggie Pot Pie) \nPeas with Pearl Onions \nMashed Potatoes \nGingerbread with Fresh Whipped Cream \n+ \nTICKETS: \nTickets for the presentation (only) are $5 per person ($3 for Museum Members); tickets for the Take-Out Dinner & Program are $30 ($25 for Museum Members). \nCLICK HERE TO RESERVE YOUR TICKETS>>
