SUMMARY:Beginner Napkin Basket Weaving Class
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, July 14\, 2023 1:00 – 4:00 pm \nInstructor: Kathy Polletto of  Kennebunk Basketry \nCost: $60 participant/ $55 Members \n  \n \n  \nIn the class the participant will make an everyday Napkin Basket. \nThe basket is made with various widths of reed splint. The participant will choose 2 colors to be added to the basket. The basket measures approximately 6 ½” x 6 ½” x 4”. The participant will learn the first steps of making a basket with a square open bottom. The participant will learn how to weave up the sides\, finish off the top and lash on a rim. This basket is good for beginners. \n  \nSupplies needed for students to bring to class. \n  \nBasin for water \nPencil \nScissors \nAwl or knitting needle \nTape measure or ruler \n8 Spring Clothes pins \nTowel \n  \nAll other materials to make the basket will be provided including a pattern for the napkin basket. \n

SUMMARY:"Earthly Observations" Exhibition Opens
DESCRIPTION:Earthly Observations: Artist Perspectives on Climate opens in the Patsy Bauman Gallery on July 14\, 2023\, and runs through September 3rd. \nThis multi-artist show displays 2D and 3D artworks that illustrate our changing climate and artists’ responses to these challenging world issues. Climate changes over time have sped up against the Earth’s natural timeline due to human overuse\, and those living in Maine and other coastal areas have a front row seat to see those changes during their lifetimes. \nArtwork is shown inside the gallery and outside in the Museum’s center courtyard. \nArtists in the show include: \nCole Caswell \nKate Cheney Chappell \nAnna Dibble \nElizabeth Kelley \nAndrea Kimmich Keyser \nRhonda Smith \n  \n…plus a community art project “Community Clothesline” \n  \nA public artists’ reception for this exhibition will occur on Saturday\, July 22 from 12:00pm – 1:30pm.
