Poppies have been representative of war remembrance since the World War I poem “In Flanders Fields” referred to fields of poppies in its first lines.
This spring, the Brick Store Museum is opening “From Kennebunk to the Argonne Forest: The Great War that Changed America,” in celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the Armistice in 1918.
In addition to the exhibition, the Museum will present an outdoor installation inspired by the Tower of London’s 2014 display. The poppies are made of metal and are weather-resistant, and will begin to be installed in June, running through November.
See more information about the installation on the Museum Poppy Project page.
Will YOU sponsor a poppy to be installed this summer?
Remember a loved one (a veteran or otherwise) by sponsoring a poppy to be added to the installation for $25.00. Please let us know the name of the person(s) you are memorializing and that name will be placed on the poppy when installed.
When the installation is removed in November 2018, you will receive your metal poppy to install in your own garden ($15.00 of your sponsorship is tax-deductible).
Pre-order your poppy today by contacting Caroline Brown, at [email protected] or (207)985-4802.
If you purchase online, please enter your memorial name in the “Notes About This Order” section before proceeding to Paypal.
