The 2013 ornament was fourth in the Museum’s Heritage Ornament Series celebrating the culture of the Kennebunks. This limited edition features a model of the ship Mount Washington, first taken out to sea in 1847 by Captain Jotham Blaisdell of Kennebunk. It weighed 547 tons and was builtin Kennebunk by Asa Durell. This ship was owned by William Lord, the man who built the Brick Store in 1825. The vessel was named after the mountain seen by Lord’s daughter, Sarah, and son-in-law, Charles Barry, on their honeymoon in New Hampshire. The vessel traveled the world carrying goods to locations such as Russia, France, and New Orleans, to name a few.
The ornament comes complete with a satin hanging ribbon and is packaged in an attractive, foil-stamped 5″ x 5″ gift box. Made in the USA exclusively for the Brick Store Museum.
