Trending into Maine with Kenneth Roberts, an American Novelist April 2 - October 24, 1992 |
This exhibition, funded by an IMS grant, featured four N.C. Wyeth paintings executed specifically for Kenneth Roberts' books and collection of essays, Trending into Maine. The exhibition traced the close relationship between Roberts and the world-famous illustrator. The exhibition represented the first time the four paintings were exhibited together in Maine. The exhibition also focused upon the early journalistic career of Roberts as a Kennebunk native, as well as his friendship with his colleague and mentor, author Booth Tarkington. Included were glimpses into Roberts' domestic life at his home (Rocky Pasture). Also on display were rare and first-edition books, documents, manuscripts and memorabilia never before on view. Limited quantities remain in stock for sale of the exhibition poster (pictured at bottom left).
