Faithful and Fearless: Two Centuries of Volunteer Firefighting

June 25 - November 1994

Included in this exhibition funded by an IMS grant were firefighting equipment, uniforms, helmets, fire buckets and photos from 1803 through the modern era. Highlights were the Thomas B. Reed horse-drawn hook and ladder, the Washington Hose Company reel, the Safeguard engine bell, an Indian tank of the type used in the 1947 Fire, an 1888 dress uniform from the Safeguard Engine Company, and extinguishers from the 19th century.
