1987 and 1997
The exhibit originally ran at the Museum for the 40th anniversary of the fire, in 1987. It ran again in an abbreviated form in 1997 for the fire's 50th anniversary. This fascinating exhibit, curated by Maine historian and author Joyce Butler, depicts the tragic forest fires that burned throughout the State of Maine in October of 1947.
