The History Showcase is a thematic display case offering changing mini-exhibitions throughout the year--an innovative way of highlighting special collections and/or recent acquisitions and ensuring that returning visitors are always seeing something unique!
This installment celebrated the arrival of warmer weather by presenting fifteen of the museum's more than 100 decorative hand-held fans from around the world, dating back more than two centuries. These unique fans were patriotic, colorful, commemorative, feathered, and bedazzled. Visitors had a chance to see the fans and learn about their history as breeze makers, fashion accessories, and secret signalers.
