| The Anatomy of a Neighborhood: Kennebunk Landing, its Houses and its People, 1750 to the Present June - November 1993 |
|
This exhibit focused on the history of the people and the building of the landing area of Kennebunk, best known as the site of the "Wedding Cake House." The history of this unique neighborhood was traced from its beginnings as the center of Kennebunk in 1750, through the heyday of the wooden shipbuilding industry in the 19th century to the present [1993], as homes have begun to be valued for their historical associations. The exhibit featured photographs, documents, painting and architectural fragments of the area.
