Agreeable Situations: The Means of Comfort, 1780-1830 May 24 - December 31, 1988 |
In 1987, a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities made possible an unprecedented study of southern Maine's contributions to the social, cultural, and economic history of America in the period 1780-1830. The Brick Store Museum, Maine Historical Society, Old York Historical Society (The Museums of Old York) and the Saco Museum (Dyer Institute) joined forces to produce a definitive catalogue entitled, Agreeable Situations, and an exhibition by the same name which was displayed at the Brick Store Museum.
