The easiest and most efficient method of giving, this program wraps membership and annual giving in one. It helps donors to budget small monthly donations that make a larger overall impact, and helps the Museum manage its cash flow year-round.
Since 2013, Sustaining Friends have donated a combined $39,528 to the Museum’s operating budget, allowing for school programs, staffing, historic preservation, and collections care.
Our goal is to grow the Sustaining Friends program to 100 members by the end of 2018. Sustaining Friends make an average monthly donation of $20.00…that’s less than a good pair of jeans these days.
Why this goal?
100 members x $20/month = $24,000 per year!
With that amount of money, the Museum could begin to afford a (much-needed) third full-time staff member; quadruple our conservation budget; and afford $4,000 a year in preservation and repairs. As the only privately-funded museum in the state to be open full-time, year-round, our operations don’t halt in January. Monthly donations are predictable – so even in the dead of winter, when the Museum has snowplowing and heating bills (often the largest bills of the year), we know we’ll have the funds to cover our costs to continue our mission of delivering history and art education 365 days a year.
