Join us for our last Third Thursday Talk of 2017 as we welcome Angela Raup, educator from the Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor.
Angela will speak on the different forms of Wabanaki basketry in this interactive discussion, which will include baskets and basketmaking tools from the Abbe Museum’s collection. It will also highlight the different forms of Wabanaki basketry, how baskets are made, why they are culturally important, and will touch on the current threats to the basketry tradition.
Angela also touch on the Abbe Museum’s decolonizing efforts, and address the role museums play in cultural preservation.
This event will be held in the yellow Program Center building, directly behind the Museum. Light refreshments will be served.
Tickets are $5 per person, and free for Museum members.
