The heart of a community
|
||||||
Frank Harrison and his wife Fran had instilled their eight children with a deep love for the community. For 47 years, the family home on Pleasant Street anchored the family and their beliefs that hard work, integrity and community involvement make a difference. And each generation has found a strong community connection to The Brick Store Museum: Frank as a past president of the Museum’s board; Fran who took her children and grandchildren to countless Museum programs and exhibitions; daughter Fran who served on the Museum’s board and utilized the Museum’s archives in her involvement with various town restoration projects. Brothers David, Jim and Eric are all long-time volunteer firefighters. Jim also served on the Museum’s board and was instrumental in building its fire company and Civil War daguerreotype collections. Eric’s first job as a 14-year-old was doing maintenance work at the Museum. And there’s the next generation in Elizabeth and Leigh who have done research and volunteered at the museum over the years. In many ways, the heart of a community or an organization like The Brick Store Museum is best found in the quality of people who share its gifts. These connections are not always easily seen, but their ties are surely the strongest from generation to generation. |
