Bread and Labor Exhibit

This exhibition illustrated presidential races as experienced by townspeople of the Kennebunks over 200 years. More often than not, voting comes down to bread and labor – encompassing food, shelter, happiness, work, and money. The state of Maine quickly became a major player in the game of politics, as the creation of the state itself was a politicized event in the fight between free and slave states during the 19th Century.
