This floral is among more than one hundred works in the Museum’s collections painted by Sarah Cleaves Lord Barry Perkins (1821-1904) of Kennebunk. Sarah was the daughter of William Lord (1799-1873)—the prominent merchant and ship owner who built the Brick Store in 1825—and the mother of William E. Barry, (1846-1932) the renowned Kennebunk architect, antiquarian and naturalist.

Sarah Cleaves Lord Barry Perkins is buried in Kennebunk's Hope Cemetery.
