| 19th-Century Maine Twig Chair, maker unknown
Brick Store Museum Collection; Gift of Ken, Ida and Kate Manko, 2006. 2006.137.0001.
This incredibly delicate rustic camp chair from Maine was featured in the Museum’s popular 2006 exhibition, Camp Maine: Rustic Furniture & Accessories, 1860-1940, mounted in association with private collectors Ken, Ida and Kate Manko. The chair was pictured in the November 2006 issue of Architectural Digest in a full-page photo spread describing the exhibition, generating phone calls from across the country. After the exhibition, the Mankos generously donated this signature piece to the Museum--a significant addition for the museum's furniture collections. Said Kate Manko, "It put the Brick Store Museum in the national spotlight, and we wanted them to have the chair that was pictured in the article."
