    2006 by the Numbers

    The beginning of a new year is inevitably time for reflection upon the one just ended. And what a year it was! Here's a quick glimpse at some impressive numbers that were among the many things that made 2006 special:

    • 65,587 = dollars contributed by more than 200 donors to the 2006 Annual Fund
    • 5,385 = visitation and outreach (up 5% over 2005!)
    • 3,155 = hours given by more than 100 volunteers in support of the Museum
    • 942 = items electronically catalogued
    • 424 = objects and archival pieces donated to the Museum's collections
    • 186 = media appearances in more than 35 different media outlets nationally
    • 56 = percentage of goal attained in 2006 for the Capital Campaign ($845,000!)
    • 45 = U.S. states represented by our visitors
    • 28 = events and programs
    • 4 = new exhibitions

    Special Viewing at Portland Museum of Art

    A Deaf Artist in Early America: The Worlds of John Brewster, Jr., is concluding its two-year national exhibition tour with a final venue at the Portland Museum of Art. This exhibition--heralded in the art world and reviewed in the New York Times and Newsday--features several paintings on loan from Maine's own Brick Store Museum and the Saco Museum.

    Join Saco Museum and Brick Store Museum staff next Tuesday, January 30th at 10 a.m. (Snow date: Feb. 1) for a specially-arranged visit to view the exhibition in Portland, complete with a welcome from curators and a guided tour of the exhibition. The perfect cure for the winter blues!

    • Cost of $8.00 per person includes admission and special tour
    • Pre-registration and payment are required by Saturday, January 27th

    Museum Offers Spring Cultural Excursion to Virginia
    Brick Store Museum Cultural Excursion to Virginia

    Coming April 29 - May 3

    Accompany The Brick Store Museum on a very special, escorted cultural excursion to America's Historic Triangle (Williamsburg/Yorktown/ Jamestown). This trip will coincide with the much-anticipated start to the festivities celebrating America's 400th Anniversary at Jamestown.

    For only $1299 per person (based on double occupancy), our tour includes round-trip airfare and charter bus transfers, 4 nights in Colonial Williamsburg, daily continental breakfast, historic area admissions, visits to two James River plantations, and singular dining experiences. You won't want to miss Virginia in the springtime and this historical anniversary.
