Brick Store Museum Happenings

Exploring the Wonders of History December 2008
Collage block
As the year winds to a close, it's time for  merrymaking with the Brick Store Museum.  Read on for our remaining events in 2008--they're pretty fun.  Think of us as you do your holiday shopping; we have some great gift ideas. Bring your house guests in for a visit. And please consider a charitable contribution that will carry us through into 2009. It's been a year of much activity on many fronts...we'll be recapping it all for you in this space next month. Thank you again for your continued interest and support.

In the meantime, from all of us, we wish you a holiday season full of wonder and good cheer and a joyous year ahead.

Sincerely,
The Brick Store Museum

Dried floral wreath donated by Americana WorkshopMarvel at the creativity. Some of these wreaths, door swags, and centerpieces are gifts in themselves:  take, for example, the dog-themed wreath loaded with toys and treats from Scalawags Pet Boutique, or the tool-laden wreath from Kennebunk Hardware (complete with a duct tape bow), or the romantic one from On the Marsh Restaurant that comes with a bottle of champagne and a pair of champagne flutes!

Wreath of colorful candy donated by Jane RollandThere's a dreamy silver and gold wreath from The Silver Tureen, a woodland wreath from Marier's Men's Shop, classics from Blooms & Heirlooms, Antiques on Nine, and Hurlbutt Designs--the list goes on! There are wreaths for bibliophiles, outdoorsmen, and supporters of our troops. There are even ones garnished with gift certificates contributed by great local merchants like the English Meadows Inn & Tea Room, Port Lobster Company, The Closet, Kennebunk Inn and more! We'll count on seeing you on Sunday!

Story Time!
Young reader Anna

With our  Living Little miniatures exhibition as the backdrop, we've been catering to our littlest guests with "Living Little: Story Time." At each of our remaining sessions offered on Wednesdays, December 10 and 17 at 10AM, children can gather in our galleries to listen to two charming storybooks (different each week!) with a dollhouse or museum theme.

Toddlers also have a chance to explore the dollhouses--many of which are now decorated for the holidays--and to play "I Spy" in the exhibition. Some of the books featured are also available for purchase, and young readers can take home dollhouse-themed booklists specially prepared by the staff at Kennebunk Free Library. FREE and fun for parents and tots, the story times serve as great introductions to the museum. Adult supervision is required.

 Did You Know. . .
#1 Museum by Jaxon, age 9

...that after Mrs. Poulin's 3rd grade class from Kennebunk Elementary School visited on a field trip, she had each student design a tri-fold brochure advertising the Museum?

Well, we think they're pretty nifty, and while it's impossible to pick a favorite, our museum staff couldn't help but like the one whose cover reads, "WARNING: The Brick Store Museum is Awesome."
