Museum to be Featured on Bill Green's Maine

Catch the Museum on Bill Green's Maine this Saturday, November 25th, at 7 pm on WCSH6-TV/Portland!

    Portrait of Lizzie
Bourne from the Museum's collections Anchor Bill Green and his film crew were at the Museum last week to tape a piece about Kennebunk's very own Lizzie Bourne, who tragically perished while climbing Mt. Washington in 1855. It's a fascinating tale that is told through amazing artifacts from the Museum and several landmarks around town.

If you can't catch it Saturday, the show is scheduled to air again on December 3rd.

Wreath Display & Auction Begins Sunday, November 26

Just in time for the holidays, this new event is sure to be a hit and get you into the spirit of the season.

Here's your chance to pick up beautiful decor you won't find anywhere else! Thanks to ALL who have contributed to make this "first-ever" event so special!

Come enjoy the displays and place your bid(s) anytime during the following Museum hours:

    • Sunday, November 26th, 3-5 pm: display opens and bidding begins with a merry Museum Open House right before the downtown Kennebunk Tree Lighting festivities
    • Tuesday, November 28th, 10 am - 4:30 pm
    • Wednesday, November 29th, 10 am - 4:30 pm

    • Friday, December 1st, 10 am - noon: Winning bidders will be notified that afternoon for pick-ups on Friday, December 1st until 4:30 pm; Saturday, December 2nd, 10 am - 1 pm; or Tuesday, December 5th, 10 am - 4:30 pm

Edith Barry card art While you're in, be sure to see our new display, With All Good Wishes from Edith Barry. The Museum's founder, Edith Barry (1884-1969), was a prolific New York artist. Among her vast number of corporate commissions and bookplate art is a series of holiday cards she drew for herself, relatives and friends. To close the Museum's 70th anniversary year--and in the spirit of the season-- the Museum is proud to present a selection of her 1920s-1940s card designs. Joining this display are several vintage toys from the Museum's collections.

    Holiday Tea 2006

Grandparents, parents, and children are invited for a rare peek inside the 1862 Captain Moses Maling House--a new venue--for the Museum's third annual Holiday Tea, from 3 to 5 PM on Sunday, December 10th.

Enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea while learning a bit about tea and etiquette customs, and the history of this beautifully decorated, historic Italianate mansion on Summer Street that is today a private residence. Be sure to bring your camera for posing with a real horse and sleigh in front of the home!

Advance reservations are required by December 2nd. Cost is $15/adult and $7.50/child up to high school age ($12/adult and $6/child for Museum members). Children under 4 years old admitted free.

In addition, an all-new holiday greeting card by local artist Nancy Cooper Funk will debut at the Holiday Tea. Depicting a charming Summer Street scene, the cards are available for purchase for $10/set, with proceeds to benefit the Museum.
