Spring Greetings! As promised, in this month's e-newsletter, we're introducing some new features, previewing upcoming events and sharing our excitement over what our next exhibition will be. These are special times at the Museum, and we thank you for your continuing interest and support! ![]() Sincerely, The Brick Store Museum
If you haven't seen the Museum's new informational brochure, now you have all the more reason to: it's an award-winner! The New England Museum Association's 2006 Publications Design Competition saw 215 entries from 81 museums in 19 different categories...and our brochure was selected for 3rd Place in the "Supplemental Materials" category. Our brochure will be displayed along with the other winning entries at the museum association's annual meeting this November in Connecticut and thereafter will be preserved in the permanent collections at the Boston Public Library! We really like our new look and have received a lot of positive feedback on the brochure from folks just like you, so we're thrilled that an independent jury confirmed what we already suspected: it's a great brochure! Special thanks to Dietz Associates and designer Claire Bigbee. Come by the Museum to pick up a brochure, or...
We're pleased to launch a new feature of both our e- newsletter and the museum's website! Our "featured artifact" section allows YOU to take a virtual museum visit and us to periodically present an in-depth look at an artifact from our permanent collections or otherwise showcase a new acquisition. In this installment, we're introducing you to an incredible 19th-century reverse painting on glass of the Kennebunk ship, the Nathaniel Thompson. In future e-newsletters, just click the "Featured Artifact" link at the end of each newsletter to see the latest and greatest!
Join in the family fun of Kennebunk's 8th annual May Day Festival on Saturday, May 6th. We especially invite you to the Museum's part of the festivities, our FLEURS & TOURS event, featuring:
Volunteers are still needed to help with the day's activities at the Museum, so please give us a call at 985.4802 or send us an email if you're willing to lend a hand.
Webhannet Golf Club is the stage for the Museum’s 9th Annual Golf Tournament, to be held on Monday, June 5th with a shotgun start at 1 PM. Once again we'll welcome you to 18 holes sponsored by community-minded businesses, prizes and competitions (including a chance to win a car from Dick Mariano Chrysler with a hole-in-one!), a social hour sponsored by Kennebunkport Brewing Company (located beneath Federal Jack's), and a silent auction and raffle—all capped off by a fabulous dinner for golfers and non-golfers alike catered by The Kitchen Chicks. Register by May 16. We hope you'll join us!
Our first floor galleries are currently being transformed into the Maine woods for our exciting new exhibition opening on Saturday, May 27 and continuing through November: Camp Maine: Rustic Furniture & Accessories, 1870s - 1930s Nearly 200 historical pieces--some of the finest in or out of any museum--conjure up the simplicity, whimsy and nostalgia of classic woodland retreats. The scent of balsam fir, the sound of a lapping brook, the glow of a campfire. This is one exhibition you don't want to miss.
WRITE IT! If you like the postage stamp depicting the Museum, then you'll love these matching notecards!
